Quartz expansion continues with addition of breaking news editor

Quartz, a G/O Media brand and leading business news and information site, announced the hiring of Audrey McNamara as breaking news editor. Quartz has now hired seven new editorial staffers in the last three months. 

In her role, McNamara will directly manage multiple reporters, shape and edit a wide range of stories while working  with reporters and editors across the newsroom to plan and drive coverage and audience growth.

McNamara previously worked for The Messenger, where she was also a breaking news editor. She has edited and reported for The Daily Mail, CBS, The Daily Beast and NPR. 

“We are very excited to welcome Audrey to the Quartz team,” said Dan Hirshhorn, editor in chief of Quartz. “Her expertise and leadership will be a huge asset to Quartz’s continued journalistic and audience growth.”

McNamara got her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.

Quartz recently announced its highest traffic since the brand’s acquisition in May 2022, with a 185% increase in March 2024 compared to the same period last year per Comscore. The Q1 2024 average was up 212% from the same three-month period last year and 311% higher than Q4 2023.

Additionally, the site’s Q1 2024 ad revenue was up 42% over Q1 2023.
